Today we look at the second part of the box office smash that was The Lego Movie.
All your favourites from the first are all back in action again five years on since we first saw them. With a lot to live up to from the first, the second Lego Movie although not as epic as the first still delivered.
It took a little bit to get back into the swing of things but as soon as you rediscovered your love for the Lego Movie franchise it becomes ‘Awesome’.
Whilst watching this movie, you have to allow yourself to watch it through the eyes of your child, or any child. It is a movie for them and it is just a plus that we can also enjoy it just as much when we take them to go and see it. Certain parts are obviously for the child but you would expect nothing less and it does not take away from the enjoyment that you have watching this crazy but loveable movie.
The songs from the first were largely loved and played constantly by the young ones and…guilty, some of the old guys too. The second still brings out some pretty darn good music to go along with the movie. I don’t think they will be played as much as ‘Everything is Awesome’ but that doesn’t mean they were bad.
It still has some jokes that will make you chuckle even if you don’t want too, and it also references other movies in its pop culture gags that left me amused at least. That’s where the ‘aim at the older lot’ comes in to it. Kids and grownups can enjoy this cheeky movie.
Now the question is: Is everything still awesome?
