What movies are hitting your screens this march?

Hello everyone and welcome What's New Wednesday. Lets have a look at what new and exciting movies are making their way to cinemas in March 2019.

March 8th 2019 - Captain Marvel

There is a lot of hype and excitement surrounding Brie Larson’s portrayal of Marvel’s Captain Marvel seems to be growing each day.

This will be the biggest female-led superhero film Marvel have released and a welcome change, especially if you look how well Wonder Woman did over in DC.

We will see a young Nick Fury played by Samuel L. Jackson meet Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) for the first time and yes, this is set in the 90’s so he will be with both eyes and sporting no eye patch.

I cannot wait ,with the rest of the world, to watch Captain Marvel take on the Skrulls and introduce her to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

March 15th 2019 – US

On the back of his success with ‘Get Out’, Jordan Peele has come back with another mind-bending horror/thriller in the form of ‘US’.

A family named the Wilson’s who seem to be working all the time decided to take time away and head on vacation to Santa Cruz, California to enjoy time with friends.

Seems like a nice idea doesn’t it, a little time away always refreshes the mind. Unfortunately for them on one of the nights four unknown people break in to where they are staying and shockingly, they all look and sound the same as the Wilsons but with some disfigurations… creepy right.

I can not wait to watch this movie and if ‘Get Out’ is anything to go by, this will be an event you can not miss.

"They look exactly like us. They think like us. They know where we are. We need to move and keep moving. They won't stop until they kill us... or we kill them."

March 15th 2019 – Captive State

I think it has been a long time since we have had a really good Sci-Fi movie and I am hoping Captive State will be it, especially starring John Goodman, that is always a good thing.

It follows events after an alien force has enslaved the world under the false pretence of a peaceful existence. © Captive State – Focus Features

It is largely set in a Chicago neighbourhood where a rebel group called Phoenix are trying to rise up against the oppressive government and the alien occupants.

It looks like it could be a great movie from the trailer and I hope it is, not as hyped as the other three movies on this list but at times that can be a good thing.

March 29th 2019 – Dumbo

Now we all know the story of Dumbo, Young elephant with giant ears that allow him to fly becomes the star of a circus after being ridiculed by his peers.

Now the storyline seems to mimic the original for the best part, young elephant taunted due to its large ears and becomes the star attraction, then the story then goes its own way by introducing Michael Keaton as a business man who recruits Dumbo for his new entertainment show Dreamland but he’s not all that he seems on the surface.

They have also done away with talking elephants and Timothy Q. Mouse is relegated to a standard mouse and replaced by Colin Farrell a returning war vet who is not the same person he was when he left and his two children played by Nico Parker and Finley Hobbins.

Dumbo also stars Danny Devito and Eva Green, so the cast is strong and I hope the movie mirrors the strength of the cast.
