Hello Everyone and welcome to another Tekks Top Tens where today we look at the top ten movies that just missed out or were snubbed for best picture.

Lets get cracking.

10. Raging Bull (1980)

Raging Bull is a fine movie that full deserve an Oscar, a man who’s only release in life is in between the ropes. I for sure never want to be on the end of his fists… Cracking!

9. Saving Private Ryan ( 1998)

Saving Private Ryan should of won the best picture oscar for the 24 minute beautifully shot beach scene at the beginning of the movie. If I’m ever in a pickle, I’m calling Tom Hanks.… Exquisite.

8. The Wizard of Oz (1939)

Gone with the wind won in this year but The Wizard of Oz is one of the most recognisable movies of all time and still watchable now. The wicked witch wasn’t the only one green with envy that night… Smashing.

7. Brokeback Mountain (2005)

Brokeback Mountain tackled so big issues and it was a very wonderfully made movie with great actors in the lead roles. This should have been the nailed on winner. I have never changed a car tire myself since this movie… Superb.

6. The Color Purple (1985)

The fact The Color Purple was nominated for 11 Oscars and failed in every category was disgraceful. An incredibly acted movie. Since watching this movie I opt for emails instead of letters… Glorious.

5. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1938)

No animated movie has ever won best picture but if there ever was a time one should have, it was 1938. Such an innovative movie that should have been seen as much. I avoid apples from old ladies… Impressive

4. The Exorcist (1973)

This movie scared the hell out of so many people back in the day. They left theatres during the movie through shear terror, if that isn’t a movie doing its job I don’t know what is… If you hear a noise in the loft, move house… Special.

3. Shawshank Redemption (1994)

Released the same year as Forrest Gump, you can not really be faulted for not winning the Oscar. Any other year this would have been a nailed-on winner. I tend to dig holes everywhere I go just in case… Outstanding.

2. To Kill A Mockingbird (1962)

Another victim of being released the same year as a classic in Lawrence of Arabia. A fantastic movie with many great moments and many sad moments. It was truly inspirational for its time, sheading lights on problems that needed to be spoke about… Never have walked through the woods on the way home though… Exemplary.

1. There Will Be Blood (2007)

I loved this movie, it was incredible and obviously helped massively by the ridiculously talented Daniel Day- Lewis and the score was insane. Watching this with a live orchestra is a thing of beauty. No thanks, I don’t want to help you find oil though… Phenomenal.

There we have it, my list of movies I think deserved to win best picture.

Do you agree? What would you have chosen?
