Welcome to the first TEKKS TOP TEN’S or Triple T’s, we are big on alliteration here…
How I thought we could start of the Triple T’s is with a top ten movies of 2018 in my opinion. So that means these top movies may not have gotten the critics on board, but they sure entertained me. After all that is what movies are about, entertaining the person watching, we all take a different experience away from movies.
Enjoy My Top Ten and if you agree then write a comment and let’s talk about it.
Triple T’s 2018 Movies:

10. Bumble Bee
I loved Bumble Bee, Hayley Seinfeld and John Cena were killing it in their roles. This was a step in the right direction to erase the previous few Transformers movies, especially the last couple. It was set in the 80’s, the story was well built and the action scenes were epic. They weren’t filmed 1000ph and did not rely on big action spots, the story was strong enough on its own, they were just an added bonus.

9. TAG
I have not laughed so much in such a long time than when I watched this movie. In my opinion it is vastly underrated, the characters are hilarious, and the premise of a years long game of Tag certainly tapped in to my inner child. Ed Helms, Jake Johnson, Hannibal Buress, Jon Hamm and Jeremy Renner as the main group of friends who have been continuing this tradition for years produce so comedic scenes that had me in tears. What even better is this is based on a true story, worth a watch.

8. A Quiet Place
What an unexpected gem. A movie filmed in 90% silence, you have to fully immerse yourself in this movie to take away the greatness of it. We don’t see these types of films often where you can masterfully keep an audience on the edge of their seat whilst not saying a word. Some scenes were tense, the jumps were heightened due to the concentration you give watching A Quiet Place rather than listening to it. John Krasinski really did produce a master piece in my opinion only helped by his connection to real life and onscreen wife, Emily Blunt. Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe were equally as giving to the movie, at young ages with such talent, they only increased the tense scenes with their fantastic acting.

7. Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri
There is little I can say about this movie as to why it is an epic. Performances from Frances McDormand, Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson were flawless. A real tragic movie with some scenes that you couldn’t help but crack up at. Just shows the talent on show when you want to cry and laugh at the same time. Not doing to badly at the Oscars either with Frances McDormand and Sam Rockwell both walking away with an Oscar each. I am glad this was given the love it deserved.

6. Aquaman
Yup, I have chucked this higher than Three Billboards… What am I thinking? Well this is how the movies made me feel and I was dreading this would turn out to be a dark take on Arthur Curry, but it was far from it. DC finally produced a movie that was not all doom and gloom and instead throwing jokes in there and making a joke character throughout the years a bad ass. I am slightly biased as I love DC so I always want them to do well, a long way before they can compete on any level with the marvel cinematic universe, but this was a fantastic step and I loved the visuals of the movie, possibly the best visuals of a superhero movie to date.

5. Black Panther
Sorry but yes, I am a superhero geek and I can not in all good conscious leave this movie off. I originally had The Avengers: Infinity War in this spot but a last-minute change see’s Black Panther claim it. We all know how good this movie is, bringing a whole new world to our screens in the shape of Wakanda. I would have to say it is in my top three of Marvel Movies. Michael B Jordan was pretty damn good as Killmonger and I can’t praise him enough for it. I remember walking out the cinema pumped to watch Avengers: Infinity War after sitting through Black Panther, I can not wait for a sequel and to see what villain will appear. My hopes are we see Namor vs Black Panther.

4. Annihilation
Again, great visuals, they can really make the movie that much better. Luckily the acting was just as good. Natalie Portman gave a fantastic performance, a believable one too. Venturing into the unknown with a group of strangers, encountering some interesting mutated animals along the way trying gave for interesting viewing. The eerie parts throughout had you tensing up waiting for a jump that most of the time never came, that for me is worse than a jump scare. This one really got in to your head and I loved it.

3. Deadpool 2
What can I say other than I am a sucker for Ryan Reynolds in a Deadpool outfit. The two just go together perfectly, I wouldn’t dare imagine anyone else in that role. He was born to be Deadpool and I was born to watch him be Deadpool. My favourite comic book character coming to life on screen in the first instalment was a dream come true and it did not disappoint a second time. Especially with the hilarious introduction of the X-Force and his budding bromance with Cable which I am hoping will be much more explored in the third Deadpool.

2. Spider-Man: into the Spider-Verse
Sorrrrrrrrrrry, I am fully aware of how I have been blinded my hero movies this year but what a treat for the eyes. The animation is how it should be if you are going to bring a comic book to life, it was a real treat. I have been waiting for this Spider-Man instalment for a very long time and I thought it would come in the form of live action but my god I am happy it wasn’t. It couldn’t of been anymore brilliant; The characters, storyline, visuals, action sequences and humour all put together nicely for a movie that really satisfies your need for a different kind of Spider-Man in Miles Morales… and Gwen Stacey… and Spider Pig… you get where I am going, a Spider-Man movie with a load of Spider-Men is heaven. Shout out to Nicolas Cage’s Spider-Man Noir, my favourite of the Spider-Men/Woman.
